Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 24, 2026
LexaWrite is built on a simple principle: your voice is yours. This policy explains exactly what data LexaWrite collects, stores, and shares - and what it doesn't.
1. Voice and transcription data
All audio recording and speech-to-text transcription happens entirely on your Mac using the Whisper model via whisper.cpp. Your audio is never uploaded to any server. Transcripts are stored in a local SQLite database on your device and are never transmitted to LexaWrite or any third party.
You can delete individual transcripts or your entire history at any time from within the app.
2. Account data (Pro subscribers)
The free tier of LexaWrite requires no account. If you upgrade to Pro, an account is created using your email address. This email is stored on our servers (hosted on Cloudflare) solely for the purpose of managing your subscription and linking your Pro entitlement across devices.
We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties.
3. Subscription and payment
Pro subscriptions are processed through Apple In-App Purchase. LexaWrite does not collect or store any payment information. All billing is handled by Apple. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles payment data.
4. Usage analytics
LexaWrite collects limited, anonymous usage analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve it. This includes events like "dictation started", "model selected", and "feature used" - it does not include any voice data, transcript content, or personally identifiable information. Analytics are collected only with your consent, as presented during app onboarding.
5. Crash reporting
LexaWrite uses Sentry for crash reporting. If the app crashes, an error report is sent to Sentry's servers. This report includes technical information about the crash (stack trace, device type, macOS version) but does not include any voice data or transcript content.
6. Website analytics
The LexaWrite website (lexawrite.ai) does not use Google Analytics or any tracking-based analytics service. No cookies are set for tracking purposes.
7. Data retention and deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at privacy@lexawrite.ai. Local data (transcripts, audio files) can be deleted directly within the app.
8. Children's privacy
LexaWrite is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, for Pro subscribers, notify you via email.
